United Airlines

of the business... most people like it enough to stay. (06/20/10)
  • It's better than scrubbing the toilets...which is where I started at United.  They gave me a shot at flying for them, and have been doing so for over 18 years.  There are much worse places to fly...It's all a matter of perspective.  Stop whining, guys. (08/23/10)
  • The above is a total "CROCK" of BS.  There will be NO strike at United Airlines...PERIOD ! ! !  ALPA made sure of that when it broke the laws of the RLA in 2008.  UAL sued ALPA and four named individuals and won BIG.  ALPA appealed and basically the appelate court judge could not believe that the initial injunction wan't more severe against the failed union.  He promptly upheld the lower courts injunction.  ALPA is a criminal organization that is bent on destroying Tilton at the expense of every pilot on the property at United. • Flown for UAL for 13+yrs now. Started out great. Pretty much since 9/11, however, our management has beaten down this employee group predominately through paycuts and outsourcing. As far as the post CO merger - "new United" - We're ptimistic. Unfortunately, not much has changed to date. Bottom line...If you are lucky enough to not be furloughed - it beats any regional airline/commuter job. The next year or so will be pivotal for this group. If we can win our battle over SCOPE and other issues this place will have serious potential again. Most of the above "whiners"  are a little out of touch with what else is out there. True - Southwest, Fedex - better deal (today anyway). But then in 1969 - TWA & Pan Am were the place to be. Will we strike? Maybe, maybe not. Will it get better? Can't get too much worse. • UAL is a joke so don't even consider working here.  IF you look at just the male pilots flying at UAL they are the largest collection of little girls I have ever met - you get my meaning, so never a strike.  When a for LEC officer makes a statement "I voted for the TA hoping the pilots would vote it down" and a former MEC officer stated he would never be willing to put pilots jobs on the line via a strike, then you understand the spineless individuals running the show.  As for the continental merger it will be BOHICA.  If you can remember the Pan Am/National hatred among the pilots aka the "blue vs orange balls" then that is what will be at united for decades to come.  For both sides be it a united or continental pilot, when you have been flying for major airlines for 10-20 years and suddenly you have some 35 year old snot flying senior to you then stand by for decades of pilots hating each other.
