Back in contract negotiations as well as a merger with ExpressJet. Expecting downgrades and possibly furloughes. Upgrade is at LEAST 6 years if not longer. Better chance of going from FO at ASA to FO at another airline than actually upgrading here. Airplanes break a LOT, especially during summer high use and middle of winter. Pay is mediocre for this type of work

This is a brand new airline from just a few years ago. The relationship between management and pilots has improved tremendously. It has a positive atmosphere, and I enjoy coming to work everyday.

Spent a long time at ASA. I look back and realize that it was a good job, though I think it would have driven me crazy if I stayed any longer. It seems to be a stable job in an unstable industry. It's a starter job for younger, inexperienced pilots. The pilot group is generally good, the new management seems okay. The aircraft are in great shape. Pay leaves a lot to be desired, although the compensation now is better than when I was there. Schedules vary from day trips to four days. An average of 13-14 days off in most cases. Senior pilots can hold 18 days off. No retirement program, other than 401K. If you are adamant about entering the airline industry, this is a good place to work. A seasoned pilot will struggle to find this place worthwhile.
